Read-a-thon begins – Hour 1 challenge and update

I’m ready to start the April 10, 2010 Read-a-thon! A day of reading sounds so wonderful to me.

Mini challenge – Answer the following questions:

3 facts about me:

  • I love the TV show Lost.
  • I’m a first grade teacher.
  • I enjoy volunteering in different places, especially with my Therapy Dog.

How many books do you have in your TBR pile for the next 24 hours?

I have 1 book (my current read, The Help) and then I will decide what I want to read next. I don’t have a pile ready like last time.  I might take a run out to the bookstore to treat myself to a new book later on. 🙂

Do you have any goals for the read-a-thon (i.e. number of books, number of pages, number of hours, or number of comments on blogs)?

My goal is to have fun and finish at least 1 book. I’m really looking forward to a day of reading!

If you’re a veteran read-a-thoner, Any advice for people doing this for the first time?

This is only my second read-a-thon. Last time I participated I was sick so I’m looking forward to feeling healthy this time!

Update:

Pages read since last update: 30
Running total of pages read since you started: 30
Amount of time spent reading since last update:  about 40 minutes

  1. Traditional read-a-thon blessing:

May the bookshelf be there to greet you.
    May all the books appeal.
    May the fridge be full of tasty snacks;
the words fall soft upon your eyes and until the read-a-thon ends,
may you always hold a book in the palm of your hand.

    Good luck today!

  2. Have fun today Nan! I’m sneaking in some visits to my friends, heehee. 😀

  3. Best wishes for a happy Read-a-thon, Nan! I’ll be interested to hear what you think of The Help once you finish it. That one has been on my to-be-read list for a while now and I’ve heard such glowing things about it.

  4. Good luck Nan! I’ll be cheering you on whilst reading. 😀

  5. i love LOST too! looking forward to the Hurley-centric episode coming up ;-D
